20 minutes ago WoltLab announced that there should be a Beta Version of Burning Board 3.1
(Codename: Volcano).
Some highlights quoted, to give an impression of what you'll get with wBB 3.1:
- new view of user's profile
- some administrator's functions are integrated in the profile (avatar lock etc.)
- changing a style should take affect immediately
- style preview in user's profile
- users can choose which forum they (don't) want to see
- colored own pm folders
- pms can be viewed via RSS
- admin can optional set that "Show results as threads" is enabled by default
- threads can be tagged
- if you edit a post, you'll get an option to tell why you did
- there'll be QuickReply
- in the footer you'll find a style changer
- some modules (like the pm module) can be disabled
- the possibility of sending e-mails as HTML from the ACP returns *YES*
- a warn & lock user system will be integrated
- the style export will be reworked: templates and icons can now be exported
- you can define your own icon's folder - the system will know if a required icon is there or not and if not it will use the standard one
- if you create a style you can easily set definitions for IE 6 & 7 (IE-Fix)
- BB-Codes can be disabled one by one
This is not the whole list by far. I've only chosen some of my highligts. If you want more information you can visit the
official announcement on WoltLab's website.
If you ask me ist really seems that wBB 3.0 was only a wBB light. A lot of the requested features (and in parts known from older versions) will be integrated in wBB 3.1.
For those of you who should be wondering: the Codename of wBB 3.0 is Sunrise.
